Nerd, iso of tech-savvy s grrl. Must be N2 DD, P2P, DVD. NS ND. LTR? NO RLRPG!

Ahh... another thing a job'll get me: a regular sleeping schedule...

I've been awake since 7.30/8ish & now here we are, it is a quarter til 1 & I'm still wide awake & all alone at 47 Monroe Street. The evening was spent watching My Family, Mi Familia, in the name of homework. Brian has to write a paper on a movie depicting social stratification. His professor gave him some thirty or so movies to choose from & I voted for My Family, Mi Familia because I'd seen parts of it before & remember enjoying it & Brian because he is a fan of Coppola. It was a good movie, a bit charming to see JLo play a bit part, but at times the narration bugged me, it was choppy & slowed the movie down somewhat. Which makes me think of another movie where the narration come into criticism by viewers. 1982, I'm barely a year old & one of the most incredible &, still to this day, talked about films is released. Ridley Scott got together with screenwriters Hampton Fancher & David Peoples to, liberally, rework Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" for the big screen, creating "Blade Runner". A futuristic story, set in 2019, where androids are an every day thing, known as "replicants". Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, "ex-killer, ex-cop", an alcoholic who gets bullied by his former boss, Bryant, to pull one last job. {This is during Ford's glory days, a year before the last Star Wars is released & right at the beginning of his notoriety as Indiana Jones. It is rumored that originally Dustin Hoffman was dog-eared for the role of Deckard but honestly folks, what was Hoffman doing then? Tootsie, that was the movie he made in '82 & while Hoffman pulled off a darling transvestite we all know there is no way he could have acted out the role of Deckard with the panache & brilliance that Ford did.} "Blade Runner" was critical to my formative teenaged years. Daryl Hannah still creeps me out due to her role as Pris, that & her surname's a palindrome. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Vangelis & matchstick men. I could go on like this for hours, Blade Runner would soon enough branch off into other pinnacle movies, like Brazil (ohh god, I just got wet) or My Name is Nobody... So I'll stop. But tell me, what do you think, do you prefer the director's cut of Blade Runner with the unicorn dream while Deckard is at his piano or do you find the classic film noir voice-overs of the theatrical release necessary for following the plot?

This has given me a good idea for those days when I have blogger's block. I'll share with you other poignant anecdotes that slowly reveal my hidden geeky traits. This is great! My blog won't have a dry spell for a year! (well, ok, I haven't repressed that much nerdiness, but close).

Wow, so this what I get for staying home. Aliza, let me tell you, I would have much preferred to have spent the evening channel surfing & falling asleep at a decent hour with you.
